Khan-led federation with MQM-P Plundered rights of Karachi: Mustafa Kamal

KARACHI, January 12: Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal, while announcing a new date for the protest rally and demonstration from Nursery Shahra-e-Faisal to Karachi Press Club on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 2 pm against the approval of the controversial census, said that Imran Khan’s government together with the MQM-Pakistan has plundered the rights of Karachi – the economic lifeline of Pakistan and its people.

By approving the wrong census of Karachi, the government is paving the way for terrorism by promoting a sense of deprivation among the people.

If the enemy does this, it makes sense, but if the government of Pakistan commits economic and political genocide of masses, then who should we complain to?

Only the enemies of the country will benefit by damaging the economic lifeline of the country. Karachi is everything, now everyone should owe Karachi. It is the duty of every citizen to protest against oppression of Karachi.

“We have written a letter to the Honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan requesting him to take notice against the wrong census and their approval.  If the Chief Justice only asks for NADRA data, the truth will become clear.

There are more people on the voters’ list, but far  less has been mentioned in the census.

Kamal said that efforts are being made to repeal the 18th Amendment, but the people are indifferent because the provincial governments, which have the power and resources, have never devolved them to the grass root level which is against the essence of the 18 amendment, and now the  the people say that if we don’t have the authority then why do chief ministers have?

With the 18th Amendment, the Chief Ministers of the provinces became unjustly authoritative, they also took in their hands powers from the federation as well as those of local bodies. If the rulers of the Sindh province want to save the 18th amendment, then they should first empower the common man. The ordinary people will protect rights themselves. It is not easy to take powers from 250 million people.

Now it is up to the rulers to decide whether they will empower the people and give power to the lower level or give it back to the federation. If Imran Khan is really sincere about ending dynastic politics, then he should create a new leadership and that can be possible through empowerment of the local bodies set up across the country.

PSP chief expressed these views while addressing a Press Conference at Pakistan House. Party President Anis Kaim Khani and members of the Central Executive Committee and National Council were also present on the occasion.

Syed Mustafa Kamal further said that the people of Karachi must convey their voice to the rulers and the people in power.

Mustafa Kamal, while advising Prime Minister Imran Khan, said that the census should keep the census as disputed and not give unilateral approval.

Local body elections should be held in the same manner as the general elections were held. There is no need to approve an incorrect census without an audit. Imran Khan has been fighting for the eradication of dynastic politics for 22 years but today when he has the opportunity, he is strengthening the families who have ruled over us from generations.

Local bodies representatives of Punjab were sent back to home abruptly through a signature two and a half years ago. Nawaz Sharif protested his expulsion but never asked Khan why he expelled those Local Bodies representatives who benefited the people.

Until the people have the option of new representatives, dynastic politics will never come to an end.
