Karachi, July 1: Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman
Syed Mustafa Kamal on Friday said that the sharp rise of Rs 98 in the prices of petroleum products in the last two months by the incumbent government is a conspiracy to eradicate the poor rather than poverty.
PSP rejects the unprecedented rise in prices of petroleum products and calls on the government to reconsider its decision. The salaried class have been the worst segment hit by the rise in prices of petroleum products because salaries have not been increased, while the commodity prices have gone up several hundred percent, leaving parents with no option but to discontinue their children from going to schools.
The poor and the middle class are now afraid of even getting sick due to financial crisis. If the rulers could only stop daily corruption in the health and education sectors, the situation could improve. Due to the failed economic policies of the previous and current incompetent rulers, the change turned into a catastrophe. Bread, clothes and shelter were already taken away from the people but now those who chant slogans of vote ko izzat do have made their voters lives miserable and have left their voters no option but to commit suicide. Not only the poor and middle class but also the business and industrial segment are suffering tremendously from severe mental and economic stress. Inflation has made it difficult to meet business expenses.
Due to instability in the prices of petroleum products, the prices of raw materials including food items are also not stable. As a result of which cost of doing business have skyrocketed, many industrialists have turned to other countries, while the remaining have made up their minds to take their businesses out of Pakistan. It has become difficult for the working class to get enough food twice a day. Ever since the government came to power, there have been daily reports of rising prices of petroleum products and of rising electricity and gas prices. If the whole burden was to be shifted to the people, then what was the need to come to power by beating the drum of inflation.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of local bodies candidates of District Korangi at Pakistan House. Party President Anis Kaim Khani was also present on the occasion.
Syed Mustafa Kamal further said that the government should stop stabbing the people in the name of difficult decisions. Due to hunger and poverty, the law and order situation will deteriorate, anarchy will spread, if the situation gets out of control then the government will be held responsible.
